First of all, we must say this…Elton John is one of THE BEST musicians in the universe. His songs has touched so many, and people all over were ‘Gaga’ over him before there was a ‘Radio Gaga’ or ‘Lady Gaga’.
Now that people know where we stand on our love for Elton John; what was going through his mind when he played for the wedding on none other than homophobe Rush Limbaugh and his now 4th wife Kathryn Rogers? Now, lets level the playing field, we have attended friend’s weddings that were between man and woman because they are our friends/family and they have given us huge support. So we are not anti-heterosexual weddings.
But for Elton John who finally got married to his husband, after decades of ‘Is he or isn’t he?’ and finally being able to show the world who Elton John is entirely, even though we knew him for 40+ years, and play at Rush Limbaugh’s FOURTH wedding??? What does this say? Is John just picking up a check for his philanthropy. Limbaugh is very outspoken of how he is against homosexuality and publicly comparing AIDS to Swine flu. Limbaugh will go the distance to get the ratings and the cash.
Who wins in this end? If Elton John will give the $1 million check from Limbaugh to his AIDS foundation, its kind of a nice slap in the face to Limbaugh. But still we are a little startled that John could sit there and serenade a room that honors a man who publicly bashes us.
On Memorial Day, Jane Lynch (Sue Sylvester on Glee) married her longtime girlfriend, psychologist Lara Embry, in a small ceremony in Massachusetts. Congrats to them both!!!

Very unfortunate news for Portugal. After the Pope Benedict XVI’s scheduled visit to Portugal in May, President Anibal Cavaco Silva stated that he will veto the Gay Marriage bill which was passed by lawmakers in February 2010. If President Cavaco Silva would have signed the bill, it would have made same-sex marriage LEGAL in Portugal. Cavaco Silva is a PSD party member (Partido Social Democrata) and a Roman Catholic (majority of PSD party members and Catholics are against same-sex marriage).
Portugal’s president will not make his veto until after May 11th, so we hope that Gay and Lesbian citizens of Portugal will use their voices and be heard so that equality will fill the entire Iberian peninsula. There is always still hope!
We are very proud that we marched with Deb Mell back in ‘04 in Chicago for equal marriage. We are very happy to have been legally wed in California, but, like Mell, we too would love to exchange vows in our home state of Illinois.

We are in love with our community and love our friends in it! We’re proud of two young sisters in the fight who’ve taken the leap and decided to give the greatest gift of one’s eternal self to eachother. However, their local on the map (Illinois-our home state) unfortunately limits their equality (when will we learn?) We love weddings and their power to unite, how inspirational for their nuptials to be a rally of support and a better future for all.

All it needs is President Anibal Cavaco Silva’s signature to make the bill the law and its a go!
