The Secrets In The Skull

January 8, 2010

We know it is dark but we can’t resist, we want to open this skull and read all the secrets in side.  Christie’s Auction house, has not done enough for the gay community given how gay auction houses inherently are. Art history, impulse shopping, and treasure hunting are  shared hobby’s.  Maybe giving them some face time here will encourage them to step up; encourage them yourself here.

Here is the Item we want.  On January 22 Christie’s will auction off an 1872 Skull ballot box, from the real Yale Skull and Bones Society.  This is the box where they kept all their secrets during their initiation process.  There is a hinged top on the skull for voting in their rituals and includes charred bones and a book including some of the members names and “activities.”  Hmmmmm the mind wonders.  There have been so many powerful men including the jack ass former President W. Bush, Senator John Kerry, and the subject of a Joshua Jackson movie with two sequels.  (Who ever knew there was a Skulls III?)  The box is expected to sell for $10,000 to $20,000, you don’t even have to wrap it.

Oh the Apple Tablet is Coming Soon, too Excited, Unhealthy.

January 6, 2010

idreamoftabletThe Apple Tablet is coming soon, so soon, but never soon enough.  There are all sorts of crazy speculations about what it may end up finally being.  My hope is that it will be what one reviewer who we know who “claims to have seen an early prototype” will be. Image a larger iphone, notebook size, super slim, NO BOTTONS, all tochscreen, but with the smarts of a new mac book or pro dream.  Hmmmm, sounds like a dream, only if it can read my chicken scratches.

It’s OK to long for a new Apple toy.  An apple toy a day is good for me and equality, learn more here, here.

When shopping at the Gap, you are not only investing in your closet, but you are investing OUT of your closet as well.

KARLSTAD, LERAND, STRIND…Could only mean 1 Thing…

December 28, 2009

IKEAelevatorIKEA

New Year, New You?  Maybe your living room can use a new lamp or even a new Sofa. Ikea is very public of their support for the LGBT community. Their commercials feature gay families and even their elevators in Massachusetts feature gay family art with 2 males and a child symbol on their doors.

For your furnishing needs, check out Ikea…and only place your cart in the shopping cart lift…it is not a ride.

After Christmas Sales

December 25, 2009

Alright, so a crazy relative or friend gave you something you really didn’t want or need, and even though you accepted the gift of an ugly sweater graciously (and we hope you did-mind your manners) you probably will return it!

UglyChristmasSweater

Here are some places that are OUR friends to shop with the returns or the gift money you received.

Target, Best Buy, Home Depot, American Apparel, Apple, Starbucks, Lucky Brand, Petco, Herman Miller, Barnes & Noble, and don’t forget about your local small business shops that support equality!

‘Legalize Gay’-American Apparel

December 18, 2009

AmericanApparel

Obviously with their advertising impact, there are many reasons why everyone knows American Apparel supports the GLBT community.  In addition, they have great items for all seasons.  If you are lucky and its warm out, check out their ‘Legalize Gay’ T-shirts, or if its super cold with a wind chill of negative something, take a gander at some hats!

We love living in a warmer climate, but there was something nice about having the wind chill and inches of snow that gave you the excuse to stay inside and curl up in a blanket!

iPod Nano

December 15, 2009

iPodNano

The advocates of Apple upgrade their own products to make them better and have a multipurpose. Everyone needs a handheld recording device.  iPod Nano can be your best friend.  With the fast pace of our world, we need to record those precious moments…especially if a flash mob suddenly erupts and instead of wishing you had a camera…there it is!

Holidays are Tradition, Have your Own.

December 13, 2009

My family has a great tradition that we as a family have continued for 7 years now.  THE ORNAMENT EXCHANGE: we each give each other an ornament each year.  I have one for each year of my life and have given one to my parents almost every year.  We have given one (or two) to each other each year we’ve been together and usually one for the dog nowadays.  Some years they’re extravagant, most years they are cute and memorable.

Ornament Shopping Guide: From Great Supporters of Equality

We love finding stores with unique ornaments and this year we’d like to feature two:

West Hollywood, CA: Pomp and Posey

pompandposey

Lakeview, Chicago, IL: Gaymart
