Good week, good week people of the U.S.

In regards to advances for LGBT equality, its been quite a week.  Maryland’s senate approves same-sex marriage, DOMA is now NOT defended  and openly Gay man, Jeremy Bernard is now President Obama’s Social Secretary! We must remember to celebrate these things! Our fight does not have to be negative, celebrate these milestones, as we keep moving forward we will get that unending ring of equality.

We could all use some holiday hope for the New Year.

Vice-President Joe Biden says Outlook looks good.  In an interview on Good Morning America, Vice President Biden stated

I think there is an inevitability for a national consensus on gay marriage,” Vice President Joe Biden

The European Parliament has declared that official documents such as marriage, civil union, birth, and death certificates must be recognized by all members of the European Union

We never thought our marriage as an ‘at last’, but a new beginning to be one of the pioneers for the future of our community. Yes, beyond a shadow of a doubt, it will get better. We wish we could have the ears of every LGBT person and say things are going to be just fine. There will be some turbulence, but eventually we will land safely and arrive at a destination where RESPECT will be there to embrace all of us!

Keep on fighting, keep raising the bar, and cope and deal with the obstacles that may come our way.

The Cermak-Ochoa’s

As a proud Mexican family (who also is of Spanish descent-my family sure had some wars within the home back in the day) we celebrate not only the holiday, but of the recent freedom of marriage, its capital, Mexico City, gave to same-sex couples.

With family in Mexico, I hear about the wars that are still fought within and of course the border wars with the US. I hope that this 200 year mark will remind my brothers and sisters that war gets in the way of enjoying life. I pray for peace in Mexico and that we, as neighbors, can one day truly understand the beautiful culture that is south of the Rio Grande which laid beautiful roots in our great nation.  Viva Mexico!

The parliament of Tasmania agreed to approve of same sex marriages and civil unions of all countries and other Australian states.

attorney general Lara Giddings said, “This is really a small step, but a significant and important step for those people who have registered or been through a civil union process elsewhere around the world and want us to recognise that relationship as indeed being in existence.”
