Hudson, NY took on a different reaction-a supportive one! Hudson is proud of the results and couldn’t be happier. Ferrusi’s mother gushed at the news and always told her son to be who he is and that we are all equal.
Congrats to the Prom King and Queen or King and King, we will have to rename high school titles with the ever-changing, progressive times
According to the facebook page: Let Constance Take Her Girlfriend to Prom, an unfortunate thing happened. “On Friday night, Constance and her date went to the prom the school had said would be held for all IAHS juniors and seniors, only to find an event that was very sparsely attended. Constance tried to make the best of it and had a nice evening with the other students from her school who attended, but is of course disappointed that so few of her classmates were there.”
What really happened was that the prom that was said to allow everyone to attend from Itawamba High was a complete fake. Only several people showed up at the Fulton Country Club including Constance and her date. There was a secret location outside the county for the ‘real’ prom for all other students.
We are speechless! This is HATE shown by Itawamba Agricultural High School and those in charge should hold their heads in absolute shame for doing this to a student. They lied to Constance and to the rest of the country who eagerly hoped for justice to prevail for ALL students.
We called Itawamba Agricultural High School, and I had them transfer me to the main office and I asked who do I speak to in regards to prom/extra-curricular activities. The lady responded “I don’t know” Then we asked, “What do you know about the fake prom and student Constance McMillen” she said “I don’t know”, then just rudely hung up.
I called back-We want to know what happened!
A man answered this time and I asked for media relations. The lady with the same voice answered and I asked again regarding Constance McMillen and the prom and she said “I don’t know and I have no comment”.
What a shame that they would do this to their own students. They didn’t just lie to Constance, but the taught all their students to be hateful. If you want to call their main office to ask questions call 662-862-3104

Due to all of the media attention, Derrick Martin’s parents kicked him out of the house. As of now, he is staying with a friend. A Facebook page has been set up to support him called We Support Derrick Martin Taking His Boyfriend to the Prom.
We support you Derrick and your date. Stay strong, have pride, and believe it or not, your parents still love you!
Bleckley County High School’s prom will NOT be canceled due to a Gay date! A brave 18 year old student, by the name of Derrick Martin, was afraid to ask because he did not want prom to be canceled for everyone else. However, the school board is NOT going to stop him, so he will be allowed to take his male date to prom.
Derrick’s high school is located in Cochran-a small town in the center of Georgia changing winds with its recent decision. Hopefully their decision of equality will blow over to Mississippi, where Constance McMillen, a Lesbian student who wanted to wear a tux and bring a female date 1st gained national attention when her school board cancelled prom altogether. However, we are sure Constance’s bravery helped Derrick and his school reach a decision for equality.

A Lesbian student by the name of Constance McMillen, 18 was going to bring a female date and wear a tuxedo to her senior prom. OMG! The school board must have thought this would cause the world more damage than an apocalypse! They cancelled the prom entirely, WTF?
According to reports, the Itawamba County Agricultural High School in Fulton, Miss., sent out a criteria for students in Feb. regarding the dance, and one of the requirements was that each student must bring a date of the opposite sex. Why is a statement like this relevant anymore? Its a high school prom! A momentous extra-curricular activity, attended by most, but once prom is over for the evening, its a memory, unless its the prom from the movie ‘Carrie’. Anyway. The ACLU became involved since the school board’s actions violates McMillen’s constitutional rights, this action forced the school to cancel prom altogether.
We forget the idea of education is to allow a student to learn about themselves and express themselves. These teachers and school board should be elated that their own student is brave and willing to be true to herself. McMillen and her date’s bravery would have taught so much to others at that event. A teachable moment lost thanks to the school board. :(
