May 22, 2011

For those of you who do not know who Harvey Milk is, we understand. Milk departed from this Earth before we were born. We have known of Milk’s history for years due to our own self-teachings of LGBT history. Please watch the following clip.

The first openly Gay politician (Supervisor Harvey Milk of San Francisco,CA) was a superhuman who let the pride flag wave.  Milk, along with Mayor Moscone, were assassinated by former San Francisco Supervisor Dan White in 1978. Milk’s final campaign manager, Anne Kronenberg once wrote the following regarding Milk, “What set Harvey apart from you or me was that he was a visionary. He imagined a righteous world inside his head and then he set about to create it for real, for all of us.”

With all Do Respect: Good Friday Blooper

April 22, 2011

God bless the choir that kept singing. Ok, again as we have stated before, 1/2 of us is Catholic and today its Good Friday. Many of us know this is the day Jesus was crucified and died for our sins. The church production below probably isn’t the best adaptation, however, we would have contracted a case of the church giggles if we were there…

Cherry Trees and Log Cabins-President’s Day This Month

February 15, 2011

US_Presidential_Seal_1959_EO_picturePresidents’ Day is a U.S. holiday celebrated on the 3rd Monday in February. It honors two U.S. Presidents: George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. Both men were elected to a position that encouraged them to create change to form a more perfect union.

Presidential Trivia:

  • The first president to say “So help me God” at the end of his inaugural oath was actually our first president George Washington.
  • At the White House, many Presidents, First Ladies, diplomats, and staff have claimed to have seen Lincoln’s ghost in the Lincoln Bedroom, Oval Office, and hallways.
  • Due to his fashion sense, President Chester A. Arthur was nicknamed “Elegant Arthur”
  • First Lady Edith Wilson is considered “the Secret President” and “the first woman to run a government” due to her overseeing the government and making presidential decisions while her husband, President Woodrow Wilson was disabled due to a stroke.
  • Bill Clinton was the first president to be a Rhodes Scholar
  • One morning, George W Bush, under the 25th amendment, made Vice President Cheney ‘acting president’ when Bush had to be sedated for minor surgery. Bush retrieved those powers later that day after he returned from the hospital.
  • President Obama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize and 2 Grammy Awards for his books.
