The parliament of Tasmania agreed to approve of same sex marriages and civil unions of all countries and other Australian states.
attorney general Lara Giddings said, “This is really a small step, but a significant and important step for those people who have registered or been through a civil union process elsewhere around the world and want us to recognise that relationship as indeed being in existence.”
Today marks the day, when in 1963, MLK gave his famous speech. He is best remembered by the extraordinary presence he made everywhere he went and still to this day leaves an impact on all our lives.
Glenn Beck is rallying to ‘give back America to God’… we think God would probably state, who does this guy think he is Beware of false profits! While Beck openly stated that he is actually supportive of same-sex marriage. He still has speakers at his rally that are anti-Gay, such as, sorry to say-the niece of Martin Luther King, Jr., Alveda King who openly stated that she is anti-Gay, even though her legendary uncle’s right hand man, Bayard Rustin, was the co-organizer of THE REAL rally for Civil Rights was openly Gay. MLK believed that justice delayed is justice denied.
Honestly, we don’t feel this rally has any heart, but it seems to be a sad, tangental recreation of a movement that states that we need to take back America. Just because you talk loud does not mean people are going to listen. Talk is cheap.
We can ‘take America back’ by educating ourselves and each other. To teach the correct history, and create a better union, our country can prosper. You know what? Watch a real rally
Today’s monsoon afternoon in Nepal brought rainbows of color to a gray day as they celebrated their ninth LGBT PRIDE.
First openly Gay lawmaker Sunil Babu Panta was the grand marshall as he (get this) rode on an elephant down the parade route…how amazing! Sunil Babu Panta is head of the Blue Diamond Society which fights for LGBT rights in Nepal. Closely marching by him was Nepal’s first Transgender politician, Bhumika Shrestha, marching down the street in a purple sari – the color representing change
This year’s parade aims at ending all forms of discrimination, ending poverty and – promoting tourism.‘It’s about promoting tourism, in line with the upcoming Tourism Year 2011, while also taking the unique festival to international level,’ Panta said.
Congrats to Neil Patrick Harris for winning not one but two emmy awards last night at the Creative Arts Emmys. Harris won for hosting the Tony’s and his guest spot on Glee.
At 5:00pm PST, Gay & Lesbian marriages would have commenced in California since Prop 8 was voted for in November of 2008. Sadly since a stay has landed, there are still more battles ahead. Next appeal will not be until December 6, 2010. Overall, we are looking for a year to 1.5 years of more battles eventually involving the US Supreme Court.
If you are in the LA area, West Hollywood will be holding a rally at Santa Monica/San Vicente from 6 to 8pm in support of same sex marriage.
Although Judge Walker’s decision was a victory for Prop 8 opponents, the fight is NOT over. Do not let that victorious feeling make you complacent! Let it be known that we will remain vigilant and active until marriage equality is restored in California!
Thursday was the day that many were planning on getting married. Please come to Santa Monica Blvd and San Vicente in West Hollywood for a rally to show your support for marriage equality. We know you can all mobilize a lot of bodies- we’ve seen you do it!
