International Day Against Homophobia & Transphobia
Several countries will be honoring International Day Against Homophobia & Transphobia. Included, will be Cuba, where a screening of Gus Van Sant’s Milk will be screened with actor Sean Penn.
“Participants are being encouraged to call for a public gathering at a national or local monument, urge people to carry the flag of their country, wear clothing that represents their nation, hold a public kiss-in and tape it and then upload it at the Global Kiss-In page.”
In the USA, here are where kiss-in events are taking place: Atlanta, Austin, Birmingham, Chicago, Portland, San Francisco at the Harvey Milk Plaza, and St. Louis.
Cuba will be holding its 3rd annual, week-long Day Against Homophobia Cultural Summit which is under the National Center for Sexual Education. The National Center’s director, President Raul Castro’s daughter Mariela Castro Espín (LGBT Advocate) sent the Milk screening invite to Penn who currently is in Haiti providing aid from the devastating earthquake.
