When People Have Had Enough…
It is now known that Lt. Dan Choi was arrested after hand-cuffing himself to the White House fence demanding the repeal of DADT. Queerty.com was there to follow the story minute-by-minute.
First, it went according to plan with Choi, HRC, Kathy Griffin, and others. Then Choi went off script even catching Kathy Griffin off-guard by heading directly to the White House to get handcuffed along with Capt. Jim Pietrangelo and the assistance of Robin McGehee of GetEQUAL (formerly of Equality Across America). Kathy Griffin stayed behind with Joe Solmonese of HRC for photo ops. Read more after the jump…
We missed having the HRC join us when we marched on Washington during the Equality Across America rally in October. However, we are delighted to see that they have learned from the ways and are now coordinating rallies. The HRC is often labeled as too integral in the workings of the political machine, but today they reminded us that they are still FIGHTING for equality, not just lobbying for it. Hope to see more civil disobedience from the HRC in the future.
We support these actions, they are our family, (all LGBT’s) and we love them. When you see family who has had enough, they will do things to make sure they get the attention they need, and in this case, attention is needed. There are citizens of our own country who are fighting for us overseas right now and they cannot reveal who they are, this needs to end now! No more unknown soldiers! No more unknown citizens!
